Alex Trebek was a Canadian-American television personality and quiz show host best known as the long-time host of the game show Jeopardy!. He started hosting the show in 1984 and continued until his death in 2020. Apart from Jeopardy!, Trebek also hosted several other game shows like The Wizard of Odds, Double Dare and Classic Concentration. He won multiple Daytime Emmy awards for his work on Jeopardy! and was inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame in 2013.

Alex Trebek’s actual name was George Alexander Trebek. He decided to go by Alex because he thought it was more user-friendly and easier to pronounce.

Alex Trebek was a skilled pilot and held a private pilot license for many years. He often used his plane to fly to filming locations for Jeopardy! and other productions. In 2004, he even piloted a small plane to transport passengers to safety when their commercial flight crashed on a remote airstrip in Nunavut, Canada.
