Alexis Tsipras, the former Greek Prime Minister, garnered global attention during the Greek financial crisis due to his opposition to the austerity measures imposed by the European Union. As the leader of the left-wing Syriza party, he was Greece’s first radical left-wing prime minister. However, he resigned from his position as Syriza’s leader following the party’s defeat in 2023. Throughout his career, Tsipras participated in numerous social and political movements in Greece and was awarded the Olof Palme Prize in 2013. Additionally, he is a passionate supporter of the football club Panathinaikos FC.
