Sir Alfred Ernest Ramsey (22 January 1920 รขยย 28 April 1999) was an accomplished English football player and manager. He not only represented and captained the England national team as a player but also achieved great success as their manager from 1963 to 1974. Ramsey’s most notable accomplishment was leading England to triumph in the 1966 FIFA World Cup, which earned him a knighthood in 1967. Other significant achievements include guiding Ipswich Town to the 1961-62 Football League Division One title, managing Birmingham City, and being inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame. Apart from his football career, Ramsey served in the British Army during World War II and participated in the Normandy landings.
