Howard Stanton Levey, known as Anton LaVey, was an American author, musician, and counterculture icon who established the Church of Satan and the religion of Satanism. He is best known for writing “The Satanic Bible,” which details the beliefs and rituals of Satanism. LaVey also wrote other significant works, including “The Satanic Rituals,” “The Satanic Witch,” “The Devil’s Notebook,” and “Satan Speaks!” He contributed to the film “Rosemary’s Baby” as a technical advisor and made a cameo appearance. LaVey’s unconventional beliefs and practices, such as Satanic baptisms and funerals, garnered attention. He died in 1997.
