Brenda Lee, born Brenda Mae Tarpley on December 11, 1944, is an American singer renowned for her powerful voice and remarkable vocal range. She rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s, becoming one of the era’s best-selling female artists. Lee’s most famous work includes the holiday classic “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” and other successful songs such as “I’m Sorry,” “Sweet Nothin’s,” and “All Alone Am I.”
Throughout her career, Brenda Lee had a total of 47 chart hits in the US during the 1960s, ranking fourth in that decade, surpassed only by Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and Ray Charles. She earned the nickname “Little Miss Dynamite” after recording the song “Dynamite” in 1957.
