Buffalo Bob Smith, a cherished pioneer in children’s television, was best known as the co-creator and host of the popular show “Howdy Doody.” Airing on NBC from 1947 to 1960, Smith gained national recognition for his work on the show, which featured over 2,500 live episodes set in Doodyville, USA. In addition to his success with “Howdy Doody,” Smith also hosted the Thursday evening Gulf Road Show, worked as a radio personality in Buffalo, and was chosen to create a children’s program for NBC. Buffalo Bob Smith passed away in 1998 at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy of entertaining and engaging children’s television.
