Christopher Plummer is regarded as one of the finest actors of the post-World War II and the oldest to receive his first Academy Award at 82 for playing Leo Tolstoy in ‘The Last Station’ (2009). He is also best remembered for his portrayal of Captain Von Trapp in the film ‘The Sound of Music’ (1965).

He shared that he regretted turning down the role of Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
