Dolan Ellis, an American folk singer and songwriter, was born on March 25, 1935, in Kansas. He has held the title of Arizona’s Official State Balladeer since 1966, dedicating his career to documenting and preserving Arizona’s cultural heritage. With over 300 songs to his name, some of his most well-known works include “I’m an Arizona Boy” and “Arizona’s State Song.” Dolan has performed his songs across the state, throughout the U.S., and in twenty foreign countries, gaining recognition for his 12-string guitar and baritone voice.
Apart from his music career, Dolan has been actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He has served as the emcee for their 100th anniversary celebration in 2010 and performed at various regional and national Scout jamborees. In recognition of his years of service, he received the Silver Beaver Award.
Dolan Ellis has also released notable albums such as “Arizona Highways” and “Session with Dolan Ellis,” earning several awards and honors for his contributions to the arts. Today, he remains a cherished figure in the folk music scene and a prominent ambassador for Arizona’s cultural heritage.
