Winstead Sheffield “Doodles” Weaver (1911-1983) was a multifaceted American talent, known for his work as a character actor, comedian, and musician. He rose to fame in the 1950s with his appearances on The Spike Jones Show and later starred in films such as The Birds and The Nutty Professor. Weaver was also a skilled musician, playing instruments like the trombone and trumpet, and performed with The Freddie Martin Orchestra. During World War II, he served in the Navy.
Weaver’s career began in radio, where he performed on Rudy Vallée’s programs and Kraft Music Hall before joining Spike Jones’ City Slickers. In 1957, he hosted his own variety show, The Doodles Weaver Show. He continued to act in films and television series until his final onscreen appearance in 1981.
