Dwayne “Pearl” Washington was a renowned college basketball star and NBA player, often likened to Earl “The Pearl” Monroe. As a three-time All-American at Syracuse University, he played for the New Jersey Nets and Miami Heat, averaging 9 points per game with the Nets. Washington’s accomplishments include being named first-team All-Big East three times and earning the title of the conference tournament’s most valuable player in 1986. Sadly, he passed away on April 20, 2016, after a battle with cancer.
