Born Stephen Grover Cleveland on March 18, 1837, in Caldwell, New Jersey, Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th President of the United States. He uniquely served two non-consecutive terms, from 1885 to 1889 and again from 1893 to 1897. Cleveland was recognized for his efforts to combat corruption and promote political reform. Some of his notable accomplishments include signing the Interstate Commerce Act and the Dawes Act, advocating for civil service reform, and supporting a lower tariff. He also played a role in the negotiations for the Hawaiian Annexation and the Venezuelan crisis. In a secret operation in 1893, Cleveland had a tumor removed from the left side of his upper jaw, which was disguised as a tooth extraction.
