Milton “Gummo” Marx (1892-1977) was a versatile American entertainer, known for his roles as a vaudevillian performer, actor, comedian, and theatrical agent. As the second youngest of the five Marx Brothers, he played a significant role in their comedy act, managing the group and contributing to their behind-the-scenes work. Some of his notable works include “The Cocoanuts”, “Animal Crackers”, and “A Night at the Opera”. During World War I, Gummo served in the US Army and later transitioned to working as a talent agent in Hollywood. He holds the distinction of being the only Marx brother who did not appear in any of the group’s films after the 1920s. Apart from his career in entertainment, Gummo also ventured into real estate and finance.
