James Ingram was a celebrated American singer and songwriter, recognized for his soulful R&B and adult contemporary music. He rose to fame with hit songs such as “Just Once,” “One Hundred Ways,” and “Yah Mo B There.” Ingram worked with notable artists like Quincy Jones, Michael McDonald, and Linda Ronstadt. He earned two Grammy Awards for his duet with Patti Austin on “How Do You Keep the Music Playing?” and the song “Yah Mo B There.” Additionally, he contributed to “Somewhere Out There” from the film “An American Tail.” Tragically, Ingram passed away at 66 due to brain cancer.

An intriguing aspect of James Ingram’s career is that he lent his vocals to the tracks ‘Just Once’ and ‘One Hundred Ways’ on Quincy Jones’s 1981 album, The Dude. This collaboration resulted in three Grammy nominations and a win for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
