Louis James Lipton (1926-2020) was a multifaceted American talent, known for his work as a writer, lyricist, actor, and dean emeritus of the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University. He gained widespread recognition as the creator, executive producer, writer, and host of the long-running Bravo cable television series “Inside the Actors Studio,” which aired for 22 seasons starting in 1994. Lipton was renowned for his in-depth interviews with prominent actors and actresses, such as his unforgettable conversation with Robin Williams in 2001. Throughout his career, he contributed to various stage and television projects in diverse roles, including acting, academia, authorship, choreography, interviewing, scriptwriting, and producing. Lipton passed away on March 2, 2020, at the age of 93.
