John de Lancie is a versatile American actor, director, producer, writer, and comedian, renowned for his portrayal of Q in multiple Star Trek series, such as Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard. His other significant works include roles in Fearless, Visions, and as Discord in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Alongside Leonard Nimoy and Nat Segaloff, de Lancie co-founded “Alien Voices,” producing audio adaptations of classic science fiction and fantasy stories. In 2023, he is set to reprise his role as Q in Star Trek: Picard. An interesting tidbit about de Lancie is that his father was an accomplished oboist with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra.
