John Driskell Hopkins is a versatile American musician, songwriter, and ex-member of the Zac Brown Band, known for his skills as a bassist and backing vocalist on popular tracks like “Chicken Fried” and “Toes”. Besides his contributions to the band, Hopkins has worked with the bluegrass ensemble Balsam Range, producing the 2013 album “Daylight”. He has also participated in numerous charitable endeavors. Leaving behind a career in real estate development in Atlanta, Hopkins chose to follow his passion for music. In 2022, he announced his ALS diagnosis but remains committed to performing and making a difference in the music world. A notable collaboration in his career was the joint album with bluegrass group Balsam Range.
