John Forbes Kerry is a distinguished American politician, lawyer, and diplomat who has held various significant positions throughout his career. From 1985 to 2013, he represented Massachusetts as a U.S. Senator and was the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee in 2004. Later, under President Barack Obama’s administration, Kerry served as the Secretary of State from 2013 to 2017. In his current role, he is the inaugural U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, where he plays a vital part in addressing climate change and was instrumental in developing the Paris climate agreement. Additionally, Kerry is known for his advocacy for veterans’ rights and his military service in the Vietnam War, during which he earned the Silver Star and Bronze Star.
