John William Cummings, also known as Johnny Ramone, was an American musician who co-founded the Ramones, a groundbreaking band that played a significant role in the development of punk rock. As the band’s guitarist, Johnny was recognized for his powerful playing style. In 2002, the Ramones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Johnny’s autobiography, “Commando…The Autobiography Of Johnny Ramone,” was published in 2012. He was also notable for his political views, often sharing his admiration for Republican politicians like former President Ronald Reagan. Established in 1974, the Ramones are frequently regarded as the first genuine punk rock group and have had a lasting impact on the genre. In 2021, Johnny Ramone’s iconic 1965 Mosrite Ventures II guitar, which he used on every Ramones studio album and during approximately 1,985 live performances, was auctioned off.
