Katherine Alice Applegate, also known as K.A. Applegate, is an American author renowned for her book series “Animorphs” and other notable works such as “The One and Only Ivan”, “Home of the Brave”, “Crenshaw”, and “Wishtree”. She has been honored with several awards, including the Newbery Medal, the Josette Frank Award, and the Golden Kite Award, and has been a finalist for the National Book Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Applegate has also worked as a ghostwriter for the Sweet Valley Twins and Babysitters Club novels under the pseudonym “Julie Fortune”. Throughout her career, she has authored over 200 books. Notably, she received the 2013 Newbery Medal for her children’s novel, The One and Only Ivan.
