Viktor Robertovich Tsoi, also known as Kino, was a Soviet singer and songwriter who played a significant role in founding Kino, one of the most popular and influential bands in Russian music history. Born and raised in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), Tsoi was the driving force behind the band, composing music and penning lyrics for nearly all of their songs until his untimely death in 1990.
