Ricardo Brown, known as Kurupt, is an American rapper, actor, and former Executive Vice President of Death Row Records. He rose to fame as a member of the rap duo Tha Dogg Pound, alongside Daz Dillinger, and became a prominent figure in the 1990s gangsta rap scene. Kurupt has collaborated with renowned artists such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Tha Dogg Pound, and has released several successful solo albums, including his 1998 debut, “Kuruption!”
In addition to his music career, Kurupt has appeared in films like “Half Baked” and “Hollywood Homicide,” as well as the TV show “Empire” and the video game “Def Jam Vendetta.” He has received accolades for his work, including a Source Award for Best Lyricist. Known for his distinctive and unpredictable lyrics, Kurupt’s stage name is derived from the word “corrupt.”
