Laurdine “Pat” Patrick was a renowned American jazz saxophonist and clarinetist, born on November 23, 1929, in East Moline, Illinois. As a baritone and alto saxophonist, he also played bass and was known for his powerful saxophone style. Patrick collaborated with the legendary Sun Ra for over four decades and performed with other notable musicians such as Lionel Hampton, Milt Buckner, John Coltrane, and Thelonious Monk. Some of his most famous works include “Rock Baby,” “The Groove Juice Special,” and “Junior Jump.” Additionally, Patrick contributed to the production of various jazz and R&B records throughout his career. He passed away on December 31, 1991, at the age of 62.
