Claude Russell Bridges, known professionally as Leon Russell, was a renowned American musician and songwriter who made significant contributions to rock ‘n’ roll, country, and blues music. He gained fame for his iconic 1970 song “A Song For You” and collaborated with legendary artists such as Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, and The Beach Boys. In 2011, Russell was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Some of his other notable works include “Delta Lady,” “This Masquerade,” “Hummingbird,” and “Lady Blue.” Additionally, he wrote and co-produced hits for other artists, including “Tight Rope” for Frankie Miller and “Superstar” for The Carpenters. Russell passed away on November 13, 2016, at the age of 74. Throughout his career, he was known for his influential collaborations with numerous famous artists.
