Matt Hughes, a retired American mixed martial artist, is widely regarded as one of the greatest welterweight fighters of all time. As a former two-time UFC Welterweight Champion, he has been involved in numerous memorable fights, including victories over Georges St-Pierre and BJ Penn. Hughes is also known for his role as a coach on the reality television show, The Ultimate Fighter, and his work as a commentator for UFC events. Among his notable achievements are his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame and being named Sports Illustrated Fighter of the Year in 2001. During his high school years, Hughes was a two-time 145 lb IHSA Class A state wrestling champion. Despite his retirement, he continues to be a popular figure in the MMA community.
