Maurice White was a talented American musician, singer-songwriter, producer, and arranger who founded and led the successful band Earth, Wind & Fire during the 1970s and 1980s. With hit songs like “September,” “Shining Star,” and “Boogie Wonderland,” the band gained widespread acclaim. White, who was also a skilled astrologer, often incorporated astrological references into his music and lyrics. He established a production company called Kalimba Productions, named after both the African thumb piano and its associated astrological sign. In addition to his work with Earth, Wind & Fire, White produced and arranged music for renowned artists such as Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond. His numerous accolades include being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and winning six Grammy Awards. Maurice White passed away on February 4, 2016, at the age of 74.
