May J Lee is a highly acclaimed and sought-after dancer, choreographer, and instructor in the Korean entertainment industry. She rose to international fame through her stunning performances on the popular reality dance competition show, “Dancing 9.” She has also worked with numerous K-pop groups, including BTS and Twice, and has choreographed for various music videos, world tours, and television shows. Other notable projects include choreographing for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, and serving as a judge on the dance survival program, “Hit the Stage.”
May J Lee had always been known as “May” but the initial “J” in her name was added when she joined the dance crew Art of Movement (AOM). They needed a unique and memorable name to introduce her to audiences, so she came up with the stage name “May J Lee.”
May J Lee has a background in martial arts, which has greatly contributed to her precision and discipline as a dancer. She has trained in various forms of martial arts, including taekwondo, and has incorporated some of these techniques into her dance style. Lee has also expressed her interest in someday doing action movies, as she believes her martial arts background could give her an edge in that field.
