Mel Tillis was a renowned American country music artist, recognized for his unique voice and ability to overcome a stutter while singing. As a singer and songwriter, he penned over 1,000 songs and recorded more than 60 albums, featuring hits such as “I Ain’t Never”, “Coca-Cola Cowboy”, and “Good Woman Blues”. Tillis was inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry. Besides his music career, he appeared in movies like “The Cannonball Run” and TV shows such as “The Dukes of Hazzard”. Tillis also co-owned Sawgrass Music Publishers, a company that produced hit songs and helped launch the careers of other country music artists. He passed away on November 19, 2017, at 85 years old.
