Menahem Golan (Hebrew: ×× ×× ××××; May 31, 1929 â August 8, 2014), originally Menachem Globus, was an Israeli film producer, screenwriter, and director. He gained prominence in the 1970s with his filmmaking success in Israel before co-founding The Cannon Group with his cousin Yoram Globus. The company focused on producing low-to-mid-budget American genre films during the 1980s.
Golan’s most renowned works include Delta Force, Death Wish II, Masters of the Universe, and Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. He also played a significant role in promoting the Israeli film industry through the co-founding of the Globus Group.
Some of Golan’s other notable productions include cult classics such as Invasion U.S.A., Missing in Action, and Bloodsport, as well as his involvement in the production of Godard’s “King Lear.” With a career spanning several decades, Golan left a lasting impact on the film industry.
