Natalia Oreiro, a Uruguayan actress, singer, and fashion designer, rose to fame in the 1990s and 2000s with her roles in telenovelas such as “Ricos y famosos” and “Sos mi vida”. She has released several successful albums and singles and is known for her fashion line. Her notable film roles include “Cleopatra” and “Gilda, no me arrepiento de este amor”, and she has received numerous awards, including the MartÃn Fierro Award for Best Actress.
Born to Carlos Florencio Oreiro Poggio and Mabel Cristina Iglesias Bourié, Natalia was named after Natalie Wood. Although raised Catholic, she has mentioned in recent interviews that she is not religious. Oreiro has Galician ancestry, with her paternal grandfather hailing from Xanceda, a small town in Galicia, Spain. Throughout her career, she has expressed interest in her Galician roots, recording songs in the Galician language and receiving the Galician of the Year award for promoting Galician culture.
