Paolo Cesare Maldini OMRI, an Italian former professional footballer, primarily played as a left back and centre back for AC Milan and the Italy national team. Often considered one of the greatest defenders in history, Maldini captained both Milan and Italy for many years, earning the nickname “Il Capitano.” Throughout his career, he played 902 games for AC Milan, securing numerous titles, including seven Serie A titles and five Champions League titles. Maldini participated in eight UEFA Champions League finals, the most by any active player, and won the trophy five times. As a legend of AC Milan, he is frequently mentioned alongside other renowned defenders such as Cafu, Franz Beckenbauer, and Franco Baresi.
