Pierre Clermont, better known as Pat Patterson, was a Canadian-American professional wrestler and producer who had a long and influential career in WWE. Born on March 19, 1941, he worked as a creative consultant and producer, directing high-profile matches and coaching celebrities like Mr. T. Patterson made history as the first Intercontinental Champion in 1979 and held the North American Championship for 142 days. He served as a backstage helper for WWE from 2005 until his death on December 2, 2020, after a battle with cancer. Notably, Patterson was also the first openly gay superstar in WWE.
