Percy Herbert was a renowned British actor recognized for his unique physical features, including his prominent face and nose, as well as his deep, gravelly voice. He is best known for portraying Corporal Jones in the popular television series Dad’s Army. Throughout his career, Herbert appeared in numerous films and TV shows, such as The Hill, The Bridge on the River Kwai, and The Guns of Navarone. Besides his acting career, he served in the Royal Navy during World War II. Herbert was an avid birdwatcher and passionate about fishing, often spending his leisure time on the riverbank. Sadly, he passed away from a heart attack on December 6, 1992.
