Raymond Daniel Manzarek Jr., commonly known as Ray Manzarek, was an American keyboardist who played a vital role in shaping the unique sound of the rock band The Doors, which he co-founded with fellow UCLA Film School student Jim Morrison in 1965. His innovative keyboard playing contributed to the band’s signature sound, featuring in famous tracks such as “Light My Fire,” “Riders on the Storm,” and “Break On Through (To The Other Side).” In 2014, Manzarek released a solo album called “Translucent Blues,” demonstrating his diverse musical talents. He is recognized for his pioneering work in developing new styles and sounds for organ-style keyboard instruments.
