Richard Eugene Piana, born on September 26, 1970, was an American professional bodybuilder, entrepreneur, and YouTuber known for his massive size, incredible strength, and charismatic personality. Raised in Glendale, California, Piana began lifting weights at the young age of 11, quickly demonstrating a natural talent for the sport. Throughout his career, he won numerous bodybuilding competitions, including the NPC Los Angeles Championships, the NPC USA Championships, and the IFBB North American Championships. In 1998, Piana turned professional and competed in the prestigious Mr. Olympia competition, the most renowned bodybuilding event in the world.
Piana was not only a successful bodybuilder but also a thriving businessman. He owned several gyms and supplement companies, including Rich Piana: 5% Nutrition. Additionally, he was a popular YouTuber with over 1 million subscribers. Piana was known for his massive arms, which measured 24 inches at their peak, and his impressive strength, being able to bench press over 600 pounds and squat over 1,000 pounds. He was also a close friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Unfortunately, Piana’s life was cut short when he died of a heart attack on August 25, 2017, at the age of 46. His controversial use of anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs contributed to his untimely death.
