Robert Jenkins Sailor, born in 1949, is a retired United States Navy captain and a distinguished naval officer. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and the Harvard Business School. Throughout his 20-year naval career, he commanded various ships, including the USS Nimitz (CVN-68), and held prestigious positions such as Commander of the United States Naval Forces Europe and Director of the United States Naval Intelligence Service.
Sailor’s notable achievements include commanding the USS Nimitz, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, and leading the United States Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean Sea. He received numerous awards and decorations, including the Navy Cross, Silver Star, and Bronze Star, for his exceptional service and leadership.
After retiring from the Navy, Sailor settled in Charleston, South Carolina, with his wife, Susan Brown, and their two children. He remains an esteemed figure in the naval community and continues to inspire future generations of naval officers.
