Tracy Austin, a former professional tennis player from the United States, is widely regarded as one of the greatest American tennis players in history. She is best known for winning two US Open titles in 1979 and 1981, as well as the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon in 1980. Throughout her career, Austin secured 30 singles titles and five doubles titles. Remarkably, she became the youngest player to win the US Open women’s singles title at just 16 years old and was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1992.
After retiring from professional tennis, Austin briefly ventured into television broadcasting, working as a commentator for NBC Sports and USA Network, where she covered numerous major tennis tournaments. She has also made cameo appearances in various television shows and movies, such as CSI: Miami and Wimbledon.
In 1992, Austin was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and she holds the distinction of being the youngest person, male or female, to win the US Open singles tournament. At the age of 17 years, 3 months, and 26 days, she became the youngest No. 1-ranked player in the Open Era.
