Sojourner Truth was a prominent American abolitionist and women’s rights advocate, renowned for her influential speeches on anti-slavery and women’s suffrage. Among her most notable works are her memoir, “Narrative of Sojourner Truth,” her speech “Ain’t I a Woman?” and her involvement in the Underground Railroad movement. Truth made history as the first African-American woman to successfully sue a white man in the United States. Furthermore, during the Civil War, she played a significant role in recruiting black soldiers for the Union Army, leading to the establishment of the North’s first all-black regiment, the 54th Massachusetts Infantry.
