Violet Constance Jessop (2 October 1887 รขย€ย“ 5 May 1971) was an Argentine woman of Irish descent who worked as a stewardess and nurse on ocean liners in the early 20th century. She is best known for surviving the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912 and its sister ship, the HMHS Britannic, in 1916. Jessop was also on board the oldest of the three sister ships, the RMS Olympic. Her experiences were recounted in her memoir, “Titanic Survivor: The Memoirs of Violet Jessop.” Besides her incredible survival stories, Jessop served as a nurse during World War I and was the first female crew member on a ship with an all-male crew.
