Walter Tull was a trailblazing English professional footballer and war hero. As one of the first black players in English football, he broke barriers and later became the British Army’s first black officer to lead white soldiers during World War I. Tull’s remarkable legacy has inspired campaigns against racism in football, and he was posthumously inducted into the National Football Museum’s Hall of Fame. Among his notable achievements are winning the London Senior Cup, FA Amateur Cup, and London County Amateur Cup with Clapton. Tull demonstrated exceptional bravery and skill while serving on both the Western and Italian fronts before tragically losing his life in battle.
