Alex Johnson, an accomplished former professional baseball outfielder, was recognized for both his exceptional talent and frequent conflicts with management. Throughout his career from 1964 to 1976, he played for eight different teams, beginning with the Philadelphia Phillies and concluding with the Detroit Tigers. Johnson’s crowning achievement was securing the American League batting title in 1970, a distinction he holds as the sole Angels player to accomplish this. However, his career was also marred by controversy, often leading to strained relationships with his teams. Johnson passed away in 2023 at the age of 80.
