Amy Purdy, an American actress, model, athlete, and motivational speaker, gained prominence as a double-leg amputee who won a bronze medal in snowboarding at the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia. She is the only person with this disability to compete at the Paralympic level in snowboarding. Purdy co-founded Adaptive Action Sports, a nonprofit organization that encourages adaptive sports for individuals with disabilities. She has made appearances on popular TV shows such as Dancing with the Stars, The Amazing Race, and Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Sunday, and is a TED speaker and a NY Times Best-Selling Author.
