Amy Rose, a fictional anthropomorphic pink hedgehog from Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog series, is known for her cheerful demeanor and fiery temper. She is famous for her infatuation with the main character, Sonic, and has appeared in numerous games, cartoons, and comics, such as Sonic CD, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Battle, Sonic X, and Sonic Boom. Her character was influenced by the English rock band The Beatles and their song “Amy, Darling,” as well as the Red Riding Hood story. Amy Rose’s original Japanese name, “Emi Rosu,” was derived from the daughter’s name of one of Sonic’s character designers. Initially, her age was meant to be that of a young girl, but it was later altered to be closer to Sonic’s age. An interesting tidbit about Amy Rose is that she shares her name with a Brooklyn-based writer and editor who authored a debut book titled Action.
