Anthony Steel was a renowned British actor and film producer, recognized for his performances in movies such as “The Wooden Horse,” “The Story of Gilbert and Sullivan,” and “Where No Vultures Fly.” He also produced films like “Appointment in London” and “The Feminine Touch.” Steel earned a BAFTA nomination for his work in “The Wooden Horse” and held the position of chairman for the British Film Institute Production Board. During World War II, he served in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve, eventually being commissioned as a sub-lieutenant and taking part in the Normandy landings. Notably, Steel also served in the Grenadier Guards during the war and completed nine operational jumps as a parachutist.
