Ayman al-Zawahiri, an Egyptian physician, was a prominent leader of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda. He assumed leadership in 2011 following Osama bin Laden’s death. Al-Zawahiri was involved in several terrorist attacks, such as the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings and the September 11 attacks, making him a significant ideologue within Al-Qaeda. Additionally, he founded the Egyptian Islamic Jihad and participated in the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. Sadly, al-Zawahiri died on July 31, 2022, in Kabul, Afghanistan. Notably, the U.S. government offered a $25 million bounty for information on him, the highest reward for terrorists and other criminals.
