Born Patricia Betsy Hrunek in East Chicago, Indiana, she initially worked as a Broadway actress before transitioning to film and television. Some of her notable performances include “Mr. Roberts” (1955), “Queen Bee” (1955), “The Long Gray Line” (1955), “The Tin Star” (1957), and “Mister Buddwing” (1966). Palmer earned critical praise for her work on stage and screen and frequently appeared on various television shows.
Although she initially declined the role of Pamela Voorhees due to the script’s violent content, Palmer later accepted it to purchase a new car. This decision ultimately revitalized her career and established her as a cult figure in the horror genre. She expressed appreciation for the opportunities “Friday the 13th” provided and the friendships she formed on set. Palmer continued acting and making public appearances well into her later years, even participating in a documentary about the “Friday the 13th” franchise. She passed away on May 29, 2015, at the age of 88.
