Elizabeth Blythe Slaughter, known professionally as Betty Blythe, was an American actress who rose to fame for her roles in silent films. She gained prominence for her seductive portrayal of Anne Boleyn in the 1920 film “The Darling of Paris” and her lead role in the 1922 film “Queen of Sheba”. Blythe was a trailblazer in the industry, as she was one of the first actresses to appear nude or in various stages of undress on screen. Some of her other notable works include “The Daughter Pays”, “Mistaken Orders”, and “The Girl Who Came Back”. She was also recognized for her daring and revealing fashion choices both on and off screen.

In her personal life, Blythe was married to film director Paul Scardon from 1919 until his death in 1954. She reportedly made $3.5 million from selling a section of land that later became part of the Sunset Strip, but lost her fortune in the 1929 stock market crash. Despite her success in the film industry, Blythe’s final screen appearance was a small, unbilled part in “My Fair Lady” in 1964. She passed away on April 7, 1972.
