Brenda Joyce was a renowned American actress, most recognized for her portrayal of Jane, Tarzan’s love interest, in five movies during Hollywood’s Golden Age. She also had a significant supporting role in the major film “The Rains Came” (1939) and took the lead in “Little Tokyo, U.S.A.” (1942). With a career spanning over twenty years, Joyce was also a skilled painter whose artwork was displayed in galleries throughout the United States. She served as the inspiration for the character Joan Wilder in the movie “Romancing the Stone.” Brenda Joyce passed away on July 4, 2009, at 92 years old. Notably, she was the seventh actress to take on the role of Jane in the Tarzan film series.
