Callie Khouri, an American screenwriter, producer, and director, gained recognition for penning the iconic 1991 film “Thelma & Louise.” This screenplay, which became a cultural landmark due to its progressive representation of gender politics, earned her an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and made her the first woman to win in this category. The film was later inducted into the Library of Congress. Khouri has also contributed to other successful projects, including “Something to Talk About” and “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.” Additionally, she created and produced the critically acclaimed TV series “Nashville.”
