Canelo Ãlvarez, born Santos Saúl Ãlvarez Barragán on July 18, 1990, is a Mexican professional boxer and four-division world champion. Nicknamed “Canelo” (Cinnamon) due to his red hair, he began boxing at 13 under his father and trainer, Santos Ãlvarez.
Ãlvarez had a remarkable amateur career, winning several national and international titles before making his professional debut on October 29, 2005, at the age of 15.
