Charlotte Rae was a versatile American actress, comedian, singer, and dancer with a career spanning six decades. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Edna Garrett in the popular television shows “Diff’rent Strokes” and its spinoff, “The Facts of Life”. In addition to these roles, Rae appeared in numerous other productions, including “Queen of the Stardust Ballroom”, “Sesame Street”, “Car 54, Where Are You?”, “Barney Miller”, and “ER”. Her performance in “Queen of the Stardust Ballroom” earned her an Emmy Award nomination, while her role in “Morning, Noon and Night” garnered a Tony Award nomination. As a pancreatic cancer survivor, Rae became an advocate for cancer awareness.
